This is a reverse-painted glass piece that I created in collaboration with a metal worker. My intention was for it to serve as a sort of “altar”, where you can put your sacred possessions. It is an artwork as well as an elegant piece of furniture that holds flowers or candles in the sconce-holders that encircle the oval piece.
height: 6 feet
width: 2 feet
depth: 1 foot
The image of a buddha or bodhisattva is the central theme. There are lights behind the glass, which illuminate the forehead (3rd eye), the throat, and the floral motif (left of the face). In the lower right, there’s a Chinese inscription. The shelves themselves are reverse-painted with a hand holding a lotus blossom.
This piece was originally priced at over $1000 in a gallery, but it is being drastically reduced simply because it fragile. I had to leave it in the care of a friend in Portland when I moved to the bay area.
Since it is pretty heavy, it will be expensive to ship and therefore most suitable for someone who is local to Portland. Buyer pays actual shipping price + insurance (unless picked up locally). If buying from a distance, please supply me with your zip code so that I can get an estimated shipping cost, to include professional packing.
